North Lakes, Queensland — August 20, 2026 — JKA/WF Australia, the Australian affiliate of the Japan Karate Association, will hold two Shotokan karate seminars in November 2026, led by Chief Instructor Sensei Jason Naylor, 7th Dan JKA. The first seminar takes place in Melbourne, Victoria, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, starting at 9:30 AM AEST. The second will be held in Townsville, Queensland, as part of a North Queensland seminar program, on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM AEST. A further session for members in the eastern branches is also scheduled during November.
The seminars are open to members of JKA/WF Australia-affiliated dojos across New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria. Sessions will cover Shotokan karate fundamentals, including kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), delivered according to Japan Karate Association technical standards.
Sensei Naylor has taught karate since 1986 and has trained extensively in Japan to further his technical knowledge. He currently serves as Chief Instructor for JKA/WF Australia, a non-profit organisation formally affiliated with the Japan Karate Association in Japan — one of the oldest Shotokan Karate bodies in the world. The organisation oversees grading standards and technical direction for its network of affiliated clubs across the country.

JKA/WF Australia periodically hosts seminars of this kind to give members from different branches the opportunity to train together and to help standardise technique across the organisation's dojos.
