Febno Technologies, a Dubai-headquartered technology company, has published implementation resources on electronic invoicing for businesses in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. The guides, released on 31 October 2026, explain the requirements, deadlines and system changes that companies face as mandatory e-invoicing begins in both countries in 2027.

E-invoicing timeline in the UAE

Businesses in the UAE with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more were required to appoint a Ministry of Finance accredited service provider by 30 October 2026, with implementation due from 1 January 2027. Businesses below that threshold must appoint a provider by 31 March 2027 and go live on 1 July 2027, while government entities follow on 1 October 2027. The system applies to any person conducting business in the UAE, whether or not VAT-registered. Business-to-consumer transactions are exempt until a Ministerial decision sets a date.

Invoices are exchanged as structured PINT AE XML through a five-corner model, in which each party’s accredited provider delivers the invoice and reports tax data to the Federal Tax Authority in parallel. PDF, scanned and emailed invoices do not qualify. Febno’s UAE e-invoicing regulations and ERP integration guide sets out the deadlines, exclusions and onboarding steps through EmaraTax.

Fawtara requirements in Oman

In Oman, Decision No. 189/2026 sets two phases for the Oman Tax Authority’s Fawtara programme. E-invoicing becomes mandatory on 1 April 2027 for VAT-registered businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million, and on 1 October 2027 for all other VAT-registered businesses. A voluntary pilot with 100 selected companies began in August 2026.

Electronic tax invoices must be issued within 15 days of the event that triggers them, as structured XML in the PINT BIS Billing Oman 1.0.1 format. Business-to-consumer sales are in scope from the same date. Each sale must be invoiced individually and reported within 24 hours, and the readable copy given to the customer must carry a QR code. Febno’s Oman e-invoicing and Fawtara software guide explains the role of accredited providers, invoice data preparation, testing and archiving.

ERP integration considerations

In both countries, accounting and ERP systems cannot connect directly to the tax authority. Businesses must exchange invoices through an accredited service provider. Febno acts as an implementation partner rather than an accredited provider. It configures Zoho Books, Odoo and custom ERP, point-of-sale and billing systems, maps invoice data to the national specifications, and tests scenarios such as credit notes, multi-currency invoices and incoming supplier e-invoices. Zoho Software Trading LLC appears on the UAE accredited provider list, which allows Zoho Books users to appoint Zoho through EmaraTax.

The resources recommend that businesses follow a set sequence:

  • Confirm the revenue band and the deadline that applies

  • Map invoice types and data against the mandatory fields

  • Select an accredited provider and complete onboarding

  • Update the ERP, or migrate to a system able to produce compliant invoices

  • Test end-to-end exchange and tax data reporting before the go-live date
