Zadar, Croatia — July 2026
An international open call is seeking artists, illustrators, designers and visual creators to develop the visual identity for House Opera – Electric Nights, a self-funded three-act electronic opera. The project, created by an artist working under the name cnc, uses house music and contemporary club culture as its foundation, replacing a traditional orchestra with the pulse of the kick drum and transforming voices through cutting, layering and looping.
The opera explores the dancefloor as a modern ritual space where people gather to connect, escape, resist, celebrate and transform. Developed entirely outside institutional and commercial structures, the project has been produced without backing from record labels, investors or arts organizations, allowing all artistic decisions to remain with the creators and collaborators.
Singers from Colombia, Argentina, Germany, Italy and Poland contributed to the work, all performing in English. The international dimension emerged organically as artists from different countries joined and found a common creative language.
With the music completed, the project now enters its next phase: creating a visual identity. The open call invites submissions for the album cover and broader visual system to accompany digital releases, printed materials and stage projections. The selected artist will receive a €400 commission, retain full copyright ownership, and become part of the album's official release, media campaign and future exhibitions.
Submissions will be reviewed by a jury consisting of Maja Šimić, Leonarda Kurtov and Kristina Banden, evaluating entries on conceptual strength, originality and artistic quality. The call is open until 31 July 2026.

House Opera – Electric Nights is an independent three-act electronic opera created by artist cnc. Combining house music, contemporary vocal performance and club culture, the project brings together singers from five countries in an exploration of the dancefloor as a modern ritual space. The work was developed as a self-funded international collaboration outside traditional institutional and commercial frameworks.
