OLNEY, Buckinghamshire, UK, June 20, 2026 — The Long Play Project, an independent music publication run by writer Ian Paul Sharp, will launch a new podcast titled Answering the Call in September 2026. Each episode will pair Sharp with one musician for a conversation centered on a single album chosen by the guest. The first confirmed guest is Malcolm Galloway, of the band Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate. Episodes will be distributed through Substack and other podcast platforms.
Sharp said each episode is built around questions about what led the guest to take creative risks, how those risks were received by audiences or critics, and what changed in their work afterward. Episodes are recorded as a single continuous conversation rather than a structured interview, and run approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
Availability
The first episode is scheduled for release in September 2026, with further episodes to follow on a regular schedule. The series will be available on Substack and on other major podcast platforms.

Ian Paul Sharp is a writer based in Buckinghamshire, UK. He is the author of Pete Townshend’s Lifehouse, a book examining an unfinished project by The Who from the early 1970s.
His writing draws on research, biography, and cultural history, and typically focuses on musicians at points of creative transition.
