LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are pleased to announce a new animated Transformersfeature film that will debut exclusively in theaters in February 2028.
The film is produced by acclaimed filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, whose work has helped redefine modern animated storytelling through innovative visuals, fast-paced comedy, and emotionally engaging narratives.
Lord and Miller are known for directing:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
21 Jump Street (2012)
22 Jump Street (2014)
The Lego Movie (2014)
They also served as writers and producers of the acclaimed Spider-Verse animated film series, earning widespread recognition for pushing the boundaries of animation and visual storytelling.
The upcoming Transformers film will introduce a fresh animated vision for the franchise. While its bold visual presentation may evoke the energy and artistic creativity associated with recent animated features, it tells an original Transformers story created specifically for this film.
This project is not a fully CGI production, instead utilizing a distinctive hybrid animation style that blends expressive character animation with cinematic action.
The film is a standalone animated feature and is separate from the live-action Transformers continuity.
Michael Bay directed the first five live-action Transformers films released between 2007 and 2017:
Transformers (2007)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Bay is not involved with this animated project beyond his previous contributions to the live-action franchise.
Additional details, including the official title, cast, director, and release schedule, will be announced at a later date.
