The product was developed to provide consumers with a compact laundry format while reducing the need for traditional plastic detergent containers.
Kind Laundry’s detergent sheets are made using plant-derived ingredients and are designed to dissolve during the wash cycle. The company introduced the product as an alternative for consumers looking to reduce the amount of plastic packaging associated with conventional laundry detergent products.
The detergent sheets are pre-measured, eliminating the need to pour or measure liquid detergent before each wash. The lightweight sheets can be stored in a recyclable paper box and can also be packed for travel without the risk of liquid spills. According to Kind Laundry, its shipping packaging was also designed with reduced material use in mind.
The product launch was founded on the company’s stated goal of providing a laundry detergent option that combines cleaning performance with a different packaging format. Founders Angie Tran and Bernard Law developed Kind Laundry after identifying an opportunity for a detergent product that could reduce dependence on large plastic containers.
“We were driven to start Kind Laundry to offer the marketplace an alternative to single-use plastic jugs,” said Bernard Law, co-founder of Kind Laundry. “We know there are many people who are concerned about the environment and want to do their part in reducing plastic consumption. However, there are currently not many laundry detergent options out there that are completely plastic-free.”
The detergent sheets are intended for use in standard laundry washing machines and provide a measured amount of detergent without requiring consumers to handle liquid products. Kind Laundry also offers the product through its online store and subscription options, allowing customers to receive regular shipments.
The launch marked the beginning of Kind Laundry’s product line and its focus on compact laundry-care formats. The company has since expanded its collection to include additional laundry products designed for different stages of the washing and garment-care process.
