Fairfield Collectibles completes mobile-focused website redesign with reorganized catalog
Fairfield Collectibles, a Georgia-based diecast retailer, redesigned its website for phone shopping and reorganized its catalog.
McDONOUGH, Ga. - October 21, 2026 - Fairfield Collectibles (https://fairfieldcollectibles.com/), a Georgia-based online retailer of diecast collectibles, has completed a full redesign of its website built for phone and tablet shopping. The site works like a phone app without requiring a download. The company said its core customers are largely Gen X and Baby Boomer collectors, and it designed the site around how they shop.
The redesign reorganizes the entire catalog. Overlapping collections were merged, and groupings by era and style now sit within broader categories such as Diecast Replicas (https://fairfieldcollectibles.com/diecast-replicas/). Products can be browsed by scale, including 1:18 (https://fairfieldcollectibles.com/scale/1-18/). Nearly 200 categories and the manufacturers the company carries now have descriptive pages.
"Our customers are collectors, and as more of them shop with us online, we reorganized the site so products are grouped the way collectors look for them," said Howard Fox, president of Fairfield Collectibles. "The changes are meant to make the catalog easier to navigate on phones, tablets, and desktops."
The company said that narrowing a large catalog to one specific item had been a particular challenge for its older customers. The search bar now sits at the center of the header, with popular-search shortcuts and a "View all results" button in the suggestion list. On category and search pages, a filter sidebar stays in view as shoppers scroll. Filters are grouped more clearly, selected filters appear as highlighted labels, checked boxes fill in solid, and a single "Clear all" button resets them.
On phones, the company said, adding or removing several filters at once is difficult on standard e-commerce templates. Fairfield Collectibles instead modeled its mobile filtering on how phone apps work, while keeping it a website, so customers do not need to download an app. A row of tappable filter buttons sits under the header, with one button for sorting and one for each filter group, such as price and brand. Tapping a button opens a slide-in filter panel at that group, and shoppers can select several filters and clear them in one tap. The filter row collapses as shoppers scroll to leave more room for products.
Other changes for phone and tablet shoppers include a redesigned header and menu, a cart preview that opens when an item is added, and layouts that work in both portrait and landscape orientation. Shoppers can choose how many products appear on screen at once, from larger "Comfort" cards to a compact view. A Load More button replaces numbered page links on product lists, and outdated links lead to a page of related products. Before launch, the company conducted usability testing with participants across multiple age groups on desktop, tablet, and phone, and made fixes based on their feedback, including changes to how Load More works.
Fairfield Collectibles continues to operate a staffed contact center for customers who prefer to order or ask questions by phone.
