Speak to Your Inventory Instead of Clicking Through Complicated Spreadsheets

Timly, a provider of B2B inventory management software, is introducing two new AI features: Timly MCP and the Timly AI Assistant. For the first time, customers can query and directly manage their inventory using natural language, either through their

Report

Questions Instead of Searching, Commands Instead of Clicks

Instead of clicking through menus and filters, users can simply formulate their requests in their own words: Who currently has a circular saw? What is the inventory value at a particular location? Where is a device located, and how did it get there? Both new features answer these questions using real customer data and they go beyond that: Actions such as assigning assets, creating new items, or updating inventory can also be triggered using natural language commands.

A Paradigm Shift

Users no longer have to operate software themselves. Instead, they can let AI do the work for them. On command, it can create a dashboard tailored to their needs or take over recurring tasks like an agent, such as regularly checking minimum stock levels or creating maintenance tickets when they become due.

Timly MCP: An Open Standard for Connecting to Any AI

With Timly MCP, companies can connect their preferred AI (regardless of provider) directly to their Timly account. The foundation is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server developed by Timly, based on an open standard that enables AI assistants to connect to external systems in a standardized way. The connection can be established via OAuth2 using the user’s personal Timly login or via an API token for custom integrations and scripts, always within the individual permissions of the respective user.

Because MCP is an open standard, Timly can also be orchestrated with other business systems such as ERP or CRM platforms. This enables inventory data to be brought together and analyzed across platforms.

Timly AI Assistant: AI Chat Directly in the Application

The Timly AI Assistant is fully integrated into the Timly software and opens as a chat window within the familiar interface. It runs on a dedicated AI service that is separate from the core system and hosted entirely on European infrastructure. Customer data never leaves Timly, and no data is shared with external third-party providers. Access rights are enforced server-side, and chat histories are subject to a configurable, role-based retention period. Administrators can enable the assistant at the account level and grant access to individual users.

“With Timly MCP and the AI Assistant, we are taking a decisive step forward: Users no longer need to know how to perform a task in the software. They simply write what they want to achieve. The AI accesses the relevant inventory data, answers questions, and increasingly takes over the necessary steps itself,” says Philipp Baumann, Co-Founder & CEO at Timly. “For our customers, this means less searching, fewer clicks, and faster processes with AI that doesn’t just provide information but actively helps get the work done.”
