IPNetwork Monitor LLC, software development company of a self-hosted platform for monitoring servers, workstations, network equipment, and web applications, has released a major update centered on database visibility, easier migration from competing tools, and AI-enabled administration. The update targets small and mid-sized businesses and managed service providers looking to modernize how they monitor mixed IT environments while retaining full ownership of their monitoring data.

The company describes the release as part of an ongoing effort to strip away the manual configuration and specialized expertise that monitoring setups typically demand, all without routing sensitive operational data through outside cloud services.

Built-In PostgreSQL Monitoring, No Add-Ons Required

The headline feature is direct, native monitoring of PostgreSQL databases. The platform connects to database instances using standard PostgreSQL client libraries, pulling in health and performance data without requiring custom scripts, third-party agents, or bolt-on tools.

A purpose-built database server template lets administrators watch metrics such as active connections, query throughput, replication health, and resource consumption from within the same console used for the rest of their infrastructure. Consolidating database oversight alongside servers and network devices helps teams catch problems earlier and avoids the overhead of running a separate monitoring stack just for the database layer.

A Faster Migration for Teams Leaving Zabbix

This release also streamlines the move away from Zabbix. Administrators can now pull Zabbix templates straight into the IPNetwork Monitor client, skipping the manual XML rewrites or third-party conversion utilities that migration previously required.

That change makes it far easier for organizations switching from Zabbix, or running both platforms side by side, to carry over an existing template library with little extra configuration. Once imported, templates can be reused or customized for comparable devices and services, cutting down the time needed to stand up full on-premises monitoring in a new environment.

More Capable Discovery and a Wider Template Library

The platform's automatic network discovery now recognizes a broader set of common devices, including printers, routers, switches, firewalls, and UPS hardware. Once an SNMP-enabled device is detected, the correct template is applied automatically, so it starts reporting meaningful metrics without any manual configuration step.

The template library itself has also grown, with new coverage for current versions of database servers, web servers, directory services, and other core infrastructure components. Template inheritance is now more flexible as well, supporting renaming and branching into version-specific variants, which is useful for organizations that need consistent monitoring across multiple software releases at once.

Optimized for Larger Monitoring Footprints

For organizations running high volumes of active monitors, the underlying monitoring service has been tuned to improve polling efficiency. The result is more consistent, timely data collection even as the number of monitored assets grows, an improvement that matters most for service providers and larger organizations scaling up their monitored environment.

AI-Assisted Operations, Kept On-Premises

Building on the platform's previously released MCP server, this update continues to give AI assistants and developer tools direct access to the on-premises monitoring environment. Through a supported AI client or IDE integration, administrators can perform everyday tasks using natural language, including adding or updating hosts and monitors, adjusting alert schedules and rules, checking current and historical status, and pulling reports.

Because the integration is built to function in restricted or fully air-gapped networks, monitoring data never has to leave the customer's own infrastructure, even as teams adopt AI-assisted workflows. That gives security-focused organizations a realistic route from manual monitoring to AI-supported operations without adding external dependencies or exposing telemetry to outside vendors.
