NAGALAND, INDIA — When Atoba Longkumer and Vituonuo Suohu founded Tabernacle Technologies Private Limited in October 2021, most software-as-a-service companies in India were clustering around Bangalore, Hyderabad, and other established tech hubs. Nagaland wasn't on that map. Tabernacle became one of the first SaaS startups to build and operate from the state, and its church management platform now runs in more than 150 churches across the Asia Pacific region.
"Churches were stuck choosing between spreadsheets that don't scale and software that wasn't built for them," said a Tabernacle spokesperson. That gap, between generic business tools and what a church actually needs day to day, is what the company was built around.
In practice, that looks like specific fixes to specific problems. A church admin used to spend hours manually tracking who gave what and sending receipts one by one, now donor receipts go out automatically over WhatsApp and bulk SMS. Financial reports that once got pieced together by hand every quarter for an audit now generate on demand. And through FaithPay, Tabernacle's digital giving product, members give tithes and offerings directly from their phones using UPI, cards, and other payment methods, no cash box or paper ledger required.
