Report

NEW YORK, September 29, 2026 — Mental Wealth Solutions Inc. launched Couch Commons on September 28. The therapist directory presents state license-check records alongside clinician-written profiles and direct practice contact details. Its public search page showed seven published clinician profiles as of September 29, with each profile displaying the state register checked and the check date.

The company says the directory is open to licensed clinical social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists and psychologists in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Colorado, California, Texas, Florida and Illinois. The public roster at launch is smaller than the set of eligible states; the published profile count describes the directory on September 29 rather than clinician availability in every state.

The release comes amid documented mental health workforce shortages. The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration reported that 148,559,886 people were in designated mental health care Health Professional Shortage Areas as of March 31, 2026. That federal measure describes designated shortage areas and populations. It does not measure directory usage or establish that a listing changes local provider capacity.

Couch Commons was built by Matthew Sexton, LCSW, for independent clinicians. A therapist provides profile text and practice contact destinations, while the directory records a check against the issuing state's public license register. The public record includes the source and date of that check. A profile is published after the license matches the registry and the clinician approves the profile; live license records are checked again while a profile remains published.

People using the public search page can review a clinician's profile and go to the practice's website, booking page, email or phone. Messages travel directly to the practice rather than through Couch Commons. Search results rotate daily among matching clinicians. The company says it does not sell priority placement or charge referral fees.

Each profile includes structured data intended to help search engines read its information. The site also provides an llms.txt guide for AI tools and allows clinicians to publish writing under their own names with links to their practices. Public profile pages do not run third-party trackers. Membership information describes the terms for clinicians who choose to list.

Couch Commons is a directory, not a healthcare provider or crisis service. Anyone in crisis in the United States can call or text 988.
