NEW DELHI, Aug 5, 2026 — KWT Spider, a desktop website crawler for technical SEO audits, has released version 2.0 of its software. Users can now track how changes in a website’s SEO metrics evolve across repeated audits, rather than viewing each crawl as a standalone report, with the addition of a new “Compare Projects & Trends” feature. The feature is among a host of new additions in the 2.0 release, including offline crawling, improvements in large-site storage and expanded per-URL diagnostic panels.
Because each KWT Spider crawl creates an independent report, you couldn’t measure change between audits other than manually comparing exported files. Version 2.0 offers a comparison view that displays the history of crawls in a project over time, with metrics like counts of broken links, missing meta tags, duplicate content, and indexability status. Instead of a snapshot in time, users can see if these figures are increasing or decreasing from one audit to the next.
The release also extends comparison functionality to KWT Spider’s AI-readiness scoring, introduced in an earlier version to assess how well a site’s content is structured for retrieval by AI search and citation tools. With version 2.0, users can now compare this AI-readiness signal not just to a site’s own audit history but also to competitor pages, giving a point of reference when assessing whether changes to on-page content or structure are having an effect.
The comparison feature targets the use cases that occur repeatedly — agencies conducting monthly or quarterly audits for clients, and in-house SEO teams monitoring the impact of site changes over time. In both cases, the ability to see a trend line, instead of a single data point, changes the use of the report: rather than a one-time diagnostic, it becomes a record that can support ongoing reporting.
This addition is in addition to other changes in the 2.0 release. KWT Spider can now crawl local website folders without a live server to catch broken assets and missing files before a site is deployed. The software’s data storage has also been rebuilt with SQLite, which helps with performance issues on sites with tens of thousands of URLs in the past. Incoming link data, raw HTML source, HTTP headers, cookie information and structured data validation for individual pages have been added to the per-URL detail panels.
KWT Spider 2.0 is distributed as a standalone Windows application, no installation is needed. The free version of the software will only crawl 250 URLs in a single session, the paid license removes this limitation. The software's built-in update channel allows existing users to upgrade.
