PANAMA CITY, Panama, July 2026 -- More US companies are looking south for technology work, not because it is cheaper, but because the team is awake at the same time they are. Digital Reset, a technology consultancy based here, says that is the real case for nearshore staffing, and the part most vendors leave out of the pitch.
Panama does not observe daylight saving time, so a team in Panama City overlaps with US Eastern business hours every day of the year. Digital Reset has built its business around that overlap for the past 11 years, working directly with US-based companies on CRM and ERP implementations, systems integration and process automation.
"Nearshore gets sold as a rate card first and a time zone second," said Luis Rodriguez Lum, Partner and Commercial Manager at Digital Reset. "Companies find out later the rate card was the whole pitch. One platform, one contractor, and everything else in their stack is still somebody else's problem."
The company draws a line between itself and what it calls single-platform nearshore vendors, firms that specialize in one system, such as Salesforce or Odoo, and staff it from Latin America. Digital Reset instead runs five capabilities under one team: systems architecture, platform integration, process automation, CRM and ERP implementation, and applied AI work built on Claude, the model from Anthropic. The firm is a Zoho Authorized Partner and a certified MRPeasy partner for manufacturing ERP.
That range shows up in the client work. For Kibou Pharma, an industrial client, Digital Reset unified scattered processes onto a single platform with end-to-end traceability. For Sigma, a healthcare client, the firm centralized sales, administrative and operational management into one system with electronic invoicing built in, a requirement under Panama's tax code that catches many companies off guard.
Rodriguez Lum said the harder part is rarely the software itself. It is getting an architecture firm, an integrator, an automation vendor, a CRM reseller and an AI consultant to agree on what the system is supposed to do in the first place.
"When one team owns the whole thing, the person who diagnosed the problem is the same person who built the fix," Rodriguez Lum said. "That sounds obvious until you've sat through a project where it wasn't true."
Digital Reset runs its engagements under what it calls the RESET Method: diagnose the operation, design the architecture, integrate the systems, automate what can run on its own, and train the client's team to keep running it once the engagement ends.
The company says demand from US clients has picked up as more businesses look for a nearshore partner that can take on more than a single project without adding a second or third vendor relationship for every layer of the stack. A breakdown of what the firm means by nearshore technology work, as distinct from a nearshore platform reseller, is posted at digitalreset.io/en/insights/nearshore-technology-services.
