Report

London, United Kingdom — Mill.org.uk, an independent online news publication, has been admitted as an accredited member of the Information Economy Alliance, an initiative operated by SCRIBE, the Social Centre for Research for Inclusive, Better and Equal Life. The accreditation was announced on August 11, 2026, and allows Mill.org.uk to display the Alliance’s official member badge and to be listed among its network of recognized independent news services.

The Information Economy Alliance was established to support independent publications that operate outside the largest mainstream media institutions. Its objectives include improving access to sources, strengthening cooperation between publishers, and providing a recognizable form of institutional accreditation. Membership is awarded selectively to publications that demonstrate a serious editorial purpose, an established publishing function, and compatibility with the Alliance’s principles.

As an accredited member, Mill.org.uk may now display the official Information Economy Alliance accreditation badge and will be listed as part of the Alliance’s network of recognized independent publications. The publication also gains access to relevant information, source opportunities, and material presented directly to the Alliance or SCRIBE, including material that may, in some circumstances, be made available specifically or initially to Alliance members. In addition, Mill.org.uk receives honorary institutional membership in SCRIBE, an independent research and campaign group concerned with better, more inclusive, more equal, and more private ways of living.

The Information Economy Alliance press office commented on the accreditation: “Independent publications are an important part of the modern information environment. They can provide specialist reporting, investigate subjects that receive little sustained attention elsewhere, and give communities and ideas routes into public discussion that would otherwise be unavailable. Mill.org.uk is now part of the Information Economy Alliance, and we are pleased to recognize it as an accredited independent news service.”

Accreditation does not imply that the Alliance or SCRIBE endorses every article or opinion published by a member. Member publications remain editorially independent and responsible for their own reporting, editorial decisions, and legal obligations. The accreditation is a private institutional recognition, not government approval, statutory press regulation, UKAS accreditation, or a guarantee concerning every item published by a member.
