Government Extends the Deputation of IFS Officer Rushal Garg in the Ministry of External Affairs Until 2027
New Delhi, India – April 22, 2026 – The Government of India has approved the extension of the deputation tenure of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Rushal Garg, who is currently serving as Under Secretary in the Economic Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The extension will allow him to continue in the role until April 17, 2027.
Rushal Garg, a 2018-batch Indian Forest Service officer of the AGMUT cadre, joined the Ministry of External Affairs on deputation in April 2024. The recent extension reflects continuity in the ministry's administrative and policy functions, particularly within divisions supporting India's international economic engagement.
Before his assignment in the MEA, Garg served in environmental administration and forest governance roles within the AGMUT cadre. His professional experience spans field-level responsibilities related to environmental management as well as policy-oriented assignments at the central government level.
