SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 27, 2026 — Fundación Algoritmo today announced the start of its institutional journey, with the goal of advancing artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool for the educational, social and economic development of the Dominican Republic.

For the Foundation, access to technology is the starting point. Harnessing artificial intelligence requires developing talent, generating homegrown knowledge and fostering an environment in which universities, businesses, entrepreneurs and the public sector can collaborate toward shared goals.

“Artificial intelligence opens new possibilities to improve the quality of education, drive innovation and raise the country’s productivity. We want to help the Dominican Republic adopt these technologies and strengthen the human, technical and business capabilities needed to realize their potential,” said Dr. Teódulo Mateo, President of Fundación Algoritmo.

Among its initiatives is Startup Dominicana, a platform dedicated to giving visibility to the country’s AI-native startups. Through showcase events and networking activities, it will help founders present their projects to investors, accelerators, incubators, universities and companies. It will also seek to connect them with international ecosystems, with a particular focus on the conference and showcase circuit of South Florida’s technology corridor.

“Miami is a strategic gateway to the United States for Latin American startups. At a time when hemispheric security and trust in technology value chains are gaining importance, the Dominican Republic can play a meaningful role by building its own capabilities, adopting and adapting U.S. technologies, and contributing AI-based solutions,” said Jack Mateo, Executive Vice President of Fundación Algoritmo.

In addition, the Dominican Artificial Intelligence Forum (FODIA) will hold sector-specific gatherings to examine the potential, challenges and applications of AI across different areas of the Dominican economy. The forum will seek to bring together companies, industry associations, experts and other stakeholders from each sector to share knowledge, experiences and perspectives that support the adoption and development of AI in the country’s productive sector.

The Foundation also plans Editorial Algoritmo, an initiative dedicated to creating and distributing educational, technical and informational materials on artificial intelligence, technology and innovation.

In its initial phase, the Foundation will carry out an institutional outreach agenda with research centers, universities, think tanks, AI companies and international innovation platforms. It will also seek to engage with cooperation agencies and diplomatic missions accredited in the country to identify areas of interest and potential collaborations.
