Sydney, Australia, 28 August 2026
AutoCalc is continuing to develop its Australian digital broker platform with input from mortgage brokers working through real income and serviceability scenarios.
The platform was co-founded by Peter Liu, a practising Sydney mortgage broker, and Sam Zhan, a senior engineering leader with experience in financial systems. Their starting point was a practical problem from Peter’s own work. Complex income information could take time to interpret, while the broker still needed enough visibility over the process to review the details and apply professional judgement.
AutoCalc is designed to assist with that workflow. AI is used to read and organise payslip information. Calculations are performed using deterministic logic. The broker reviews the extracted information, corrects or reclassifies items where appropriate and decides how the result should be used. The lender’s assessment remains final.
This division of responsibility is central to how the founders describe the platform. AutoCalc is intended to support the broker’s work, not replace lender policy, verification or professional judgement.
Broker feedback also has a direct role in the platform’s development. When a broker identifies friction in the workflow, an unfamiliar income scenario or information that could be presented more clearly, the team reviews that feedback as development input.
Not every suggestion is added immediately. Feedback still needs to be assessed, tested and considered in the context of the wider platform. However, the founders believe that brokers working with these details every day can identify practical issues that may not be visible from a purely technical perspective.
AutoCalc has also published the results of a defined verification exercise conducted on 4 August 2026. The team compared 166 figures with 27 lender workbooks. A total of 164 figures matched, while the two differences are disclosed publicly on the AutoCalc Accuracy page:

The results relate to that specific verification exercise. They should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every future scenario will produce the same result or as a statement that the platform supports 27 lenders.
In sample runs, payslip processing averaged approximately 15 seconds. Actual processing time varies depending on the document, and broker review remains part of the workflow.
The different experience of the two founders continues to shape how the platform develops. Peter contributes the perspective of a broker working directly with clients, lender policy and serviceability questions. Sam turns practical workflow requirements into platform behaviour that can be tested, maintained and improved over time.
The next stage of AutoCalc is not based on a claim that the platform is finished. Peter and Sam are inviting brokers to identify where it genuinely helps, where the workflow could be clearer and what still needs improvement.
